Dark Knight - UA Olympus Point

UA Olympus Point Theatres
520 N Sunrise Ave
Roseville, CA 95661

Back to the movies! We only do a few movies as Thursday venues in a year, but we seem to be regulars. Tonight Dark Knight was on tap.

Unlike when we saw Hellboy this theatre was packed! Coach was the first one there and scored 6 seats in a row, and we scammed two behind that - and that was it! TJ & NakedBob got stuck in the front, and from a text message I got after the movie, it looks like Sluggy was denied a ticket. All and all, not our best work.

But the movie was awesome, so that makes it all worth it. The Joker stole the show, overall a great movie, but maybe a tad bit long (my opinion might change if I watch it again without having to pee).

We (Scribby & GoBen) presented NakedBob with a little giftie that we found back on Father's Day. A Cheeto shaped like a penis, with testicles and all. A good find.

There has been a lot of talk about the woman in Missouri that found a Cheesus. When here is our Cheenis, complete with Cheesticules. Take that! Did I mention that we wrapped it in a gift box I got from Jarla? That's right. The Chenis is in Jarla's box. Like you really believed we wouldn't go there.

Blue BBQ at the Bobs - Shooter's Birthday

Undisclosed Roseville Location

Oh boy. The grill was hot and there was meat aplenty! Everyone dressed in blue for a group picture.

The Thursday Drunk house-hosted evenings are always good. They run late, they are cheap, hosts drink heavily - always a five start rating.

Summer BBQ at the Bobs was no exception. We celebrated Shooter's birthday with cupcakes, gift cards and Big Lebowski action figures. Can't ask for much more. Our birthday candles (a 3 and a 2 fused together) that we have been using for about four years finally died. So we had to switch to something else. TJ came through with fancy candles.

The Bobs house has a great cork flower bed - see we drink wine for a purpose! We are just trying to help.

NakedBob had a very official Thursday Drunks Approved stamp made. This will be used for everything, and receipts at stuff on Thursdays if we like a place. Kudos to NakedBob!

And we had a moment of clarity after we all talked about how crappy the movie Titanic was. Here is the formula.

People who like the movie Titanic = People we don't listen to their movie opinion. Proved and substantiated!

Bonus tidbit: a full color tutorial on How to High-Five out of Wired magazine. Too bad it's not online.

Fabulous Business Cards

TJ - being the self-motivated graphic artist, went out and got us some business cards. Yup, real actual business cards. We feel very grown up and organized for a go-out-and-drink organization.

Cheers to TJ!

And by the way, the liquid in the background, and very yummy scotch. Thanks NakedBob for taking one for the team.

Hellboy II - Century Theatre Folsom

Drunks + Hellboy II + Spiked Concession Drinks = Kick Ass!

So. We met up at the Folsom Theaters to see a little Hellboy sequel. The plan was, popcorn for dinner, bring your own booze and see a (hopefully)great movie.

Popcorn for dinner was okay. Boys ate hot dogs, and NakedBob commented that he could have made a xylophone out of it. It was just that delicious...oh, I mean hard as a rock.

Drinks were better... This was our drink menu: Rum & coke, peach vodka & sprite, Brazilian rum (cachaca) and sprite. And Sluggy brought a flask of Chardonnay. Really. She didn't want it to go to waste! She left her Crabby & baby Wednesday at home - mom's night out!

Premovie crap was just that, crap. I don't care about the Cleaner on TNT, nobody does. Also, the audio levels in that theatre were atrocious! From super loud to very quiet and back within about 30 seconds. Felt like you were in some sort of sensory deprivation room.

Movie rocked. I think it was better than the first one, a little more fantasy, many more cool creatures - but all that is right up my alley. Totally enjoyed it, and want to see it again already.

Best line: Hellboy is getting pissed drinking cheap beer, Abe is lamenting his love sick heart. Hellboy offers Abe a beer.
Abe - "But my body is a temple!"
Hellboy - "Well, now it's an amusement park."

Journal tidbit:
Scribby - "I can't taste my alcohol."
Three drunks in unison - "Keep pouring!"

Full moon on the way home.

The Shack

5201 Folsom Blvd
Sacramento, CA 95819
(916) 457-5997

It's been hotter than hell in Sacramento this week, and with all the wildfires, the air quality is awful. So, when Thursday rolled around, I wasn't totally excited about sitting outside for dinner even though the Shack is one of our favorite places for Thursday.

Then I got the email from Gary with the menu. Hawaiian. Complete with Ahi poke, Spam musubi, Kalua pork, pineapple fried rice - all grumpiness was gone!

If you've never been to one of their Thursday dinners, you are missing out. You show up, get settled down with a drink, listen to some great live music and wait till dinner is ready. It's a real neighborhood feel, but not snobby. Very kick back, dog and kid friendly. Eventually dinners ready and it's family/buffet style. And you will get dizzy looking and the wall of wine and beer choices.

A couple of us got there early, had drinks and played cards. By the time everyone else showed up we had moved outside and a nice breeze started. The food was terrific as always and we met a couple of fun people.

Journal Tidbit: German party is happening this weekend so outfits were discussed. Lederhosen was brought up as an option and that digressed into Thongerhosen. Yes - half thong/half hosen. Hand knitted of course.
