Basic Urban Kitchen & Bar

Basic Urban Kitchen & Bar
112 Pacific Street
Roseville, CA 95678
(916) 749-4641

We've been here before. October 2008. February 2009. July 2009. You could say that we like this place. The pizza really is why we keep coming back. It's super thin, crispy and you get whatever you like on top. The mashed potato and bacon is always on the list!

The awesome thing about this time, we strolled in a little before 7pm and hit their happy hour for the first time. $3 personal pizza & $2 well drinks. That's right $5!! How can you go wrong?

Ernesto's Mexican Food

1901 16th Street
Sacramento, CA 95811-7204
(916) 441-5850
It was Bumpy Truck's birthday and he wanted a burrito. He is our youngest member who isn't in diapers so we granted his wish and headed to Ernesto's. Now, I've gotta say, a few of us think the food here is just "meh". Not bad, but not outstanding, just okay. But we do love their margaritas, other drinks and that they give you bean dip!
We walk in and there is a sign on the table wishing Bumpy a happy birthday. That's damn classy! And there was one near the door too. This would explain why they called me to verify his name. Nicely done. "Bump." "What?" "Bump. B. U. M. P...like bump in the road."
There were a lot of enchiladas & burritos ordered along with other stuff I didn't document and for some reason, it was pretty damn good! Much improved from the last time we were here, so good job Ernesto's!
Drinks were just as we remembered, yummy... The wait staff did a little singing, gave Bump some birthday flan and it ended up being a fun, loud, drinky, chatting night all around!

Bump is sad because he is old.

Darth Vader wished Bump a happy birthday with his free flan.

Chili Night & Sac Town Ice Cream

Undisclosed Natomas location

For 2010 we are invading our member's houses once a month to try to cut down on some costs, and also because it's fun!

This week we were in the home of me, Scribby & RobotGoBen. Menu was turkey chili & cornbread with honey butter. Chili is good, but it's better when you have these toppings to choose from: cheddar cheese, pepper jack cheese, jalapenos, cayenne pepper, green onions, white onions, sour cream, tomatoes and BACON!

After dinner we walked over to Sac Town Ice Cream to get a little dessert. This place is rad. Just an old fashion ice cream parlor serving Gunther's, a Sacramento favorite. It's a lovely addition to the North Natomas area.

The the Last Night on Earth was put on the table and we played some zombie board game - wow, that makes us sound super dorky. Whatever, we have the booze.

We put the fatal blow on the 15 litre wine keg, it's dead now. Thanks to MAS Wines for giving us a nice challenge.

Hot Italian

1627 16th Street
Sacramento, CA 95814
(916) 444-3000

I have to say the food & wine was just as good the second time! My only complaint is that the salmui plate that was refreshingly light last time was just piled with meat & cheese on this visit. All of it delicious, but just too much of a good thing for an appetizer.
Tuna & white bean salad was fantastic and the prosciutto, mushroom, truffle oil & arugula pizza was just about orgasmic. And their gelato is always good.
This place makes me wish we made it to places more than once a year. I could eat there again today.
