Fanny Ann's Saloon, Birth of Bump

Rounding out our December birthdays is Bumpy Truck! We headed down to Fanny Ann's in old Sacramento for some burgers & booze. It's a thin building with four floors and we usually sit up top so we can visit our coaster that we stuck to the wall year ago, but this time we explored the downstairs area that now has a new Thursday Drunks business card.

Drinks are simple and stiff and the food is straightforward burgers, fries and other pub food but it hits the spot. They are sticklers for carding since they are kind of in a party district so don't forget your ID or they won't help you drink.

Downstairs was pretty cool since its sort of small and we got the whole area to ourselves. Bumpy was able to open his recycled birthday cards in peace! Just make sure you get our before then karaoke starts.

Sundance Bar & Grill

5430 Sunrise Blvd
Citrus Heights, CA 95610
(916) 965-9736

Celebrating one of our own again this week, but since he was galavanting around Europe during his birthday, we picked this week! And a perfect opportunity to visit a good old fashion bar with large beers, stiff drinks and surprisingly good food.

Order your food in the attached deli. The prime rib sandwiches are moist, tender & very flavorful. Served with some au jus, it's just about perfect. Maybe bring your own horseradish. All the fried foods are fried so therefor wonderful!

The birthday boy always asked that we donate toys for his birthday so take then opportunity to buy him age and gender inappropriate gifts! The list included a Ken doll, My Little Pony, ray guns, Hungry Hungry Hippos and all sorts of other great toys. Such a good guy and good sport!

Masullo Pizzeria, Birth of Scribby

2711 Riverside Blvd
Sacramento, CA 95818
(916) 443-8929

I love birthdays. Especially when they are mine! So, since I got to pick our destination, I chose Masullo for really amazing pizza and half-price bottles of wine. That's right, half-price wine!

They don't take reservations but are very nice about trying their best to keep a large table open for your 15 drunken friends. And as long as you can get cozy it works just fine.

It's best to share pizzas so you can try more. The salads are also great...simple, fresh, yummy. I can't say how much I love their food. Go for and Eileen, Mustapha, Triani or Gilda, buy a couple of bottles & enjoy your night. I did.

Tres Hermanas

2416 K Street
Sacramento, CA 95816
(916) 443-6919

After all that turkey and gravy, Mexican food is just what we needed! Tres Hermanas has been a Sacramento staple for years. The beans are amazing and I really don't want to know why.

The portions are large, the staff are sassy, and the flour tortillas are outstanding! They can serve you up your basic enchiladas & margaritas or more interesting faire.

They get busy to try to stop by early or late. And they serve a mean breakfast if you ever need some hangover help.
