De Vere's Irish Pub, Birth of the Good Doctor

1531 L Street
Sacramento, CA 95814
(916) 231-9947

Our favorite drunk of Irish descent had a birthday this week so we took him to the pub for a proper pint. We had lots of out of town and special guests for his big day.

If you bring your own party, this place is awesome. Sometimes it fill up with some douchbags, but you can avoid them. And the staff are awesome so it's totally worth it. Try out the giant fresh baked pretzel that comes with a pimento beer cheese and a delicious sausage. The best!

And now a joke from our server Mollee:

Q: What did the hurricane say to the coconut tree?

A: Hold on to your nuts, this ain't no ordinary blow job!

Chicago Fire, Birth of Slug & Crab

310 Palladio Parkway
Folsom
(916) 984-0140

A pair of August birthdays sent us to the fancy new Chicago Fire location over in the Palladio mall area. Easier parking and everything! Truth be told, I wasn't there. I fail. And I also have nothing to report except I don't know who the person is in the second photo.

Yup, totally going to win awards for this post.

Karla & Dan's Home Invasion

Undisclosed Hollywood Park Location

Sometimes, our Sometimes Drunks really step up to the plate and freaking rock it! Dan and Karla want to be drunks so much, but have crazy schedules so we forgive them. Especially once they invited us to their house and made homemade carnitas taco bar for us! Dear god, they are keepers!

It was a perfect Sacramento evening with a breeze to counteract the hot day. A yard, dogs and a whole lot of drunks and the scene was set. Homemade everything makes tacos wonderful.

One other awesome thing, Cards Against Humanity. It's hilariously inappropriate - kind of like us.

Thanks drunks hosts! Hope you found all the stripper cash we left in your house.

Nela's Mexican Restaurant

242 Vernon St
Roseville, CA 95678
(916) 783-9992

Nela's was formerly Eva's right in the old part of Roseville. Most of us grew up around here and have very fond memories of their very simple and delicious food and the amazing squeezy bottle of hot sauce! It's especially good on the ranch salad of iceberg lettuce in the little wooden bowls. Ah memories!

This Thursday, we had an amazing showing of 17 drunks and make a lovely awkward T from our tables. It's one of our favorite configurations. The shredded beef taco (that is deep fried, as it should be) is perfect when smothered in the squeezy hot sauce. Try it out. Cheap and delicious!

The Porch Restaurant & Bar

1815 K St
Sacramento, CA 95811
(916) 444-2423

We were heartbroken when Celestin's closed. They had the best Singapore Sling and Jambalaya around. Our sadness gave us pause about the new place opened in it's place, The Porch. Now, it's by the people at Capital Garage and full disclosure, we like the idea of Capital Garage but have always had mediocre to down right crappy service there. This made us skeptical.

To our surprise, the service at The Porch was rockin'! The food was super delicious upscale southern food in large portions. If you go away hungry you are just not trying. The drinks? Also really tasty. All of us loved this place and everything about it. We will be back for a happy hour very soon and make sure to take our families there too. Accessible to the dad's out there and fancy enough for your hipster tastes. Win, all around.
