The Good Doctors

Undisclosed Elk Grove Location

I'm not sure why people keep inviting us over but the Good Doctors hosted the Thursday Drunks over for Thai food, adorable kid time and some Sauvignon Blanc that we might have iced down. We are ashamed but not above it.!

The Republic, Featuring Drewski's

908 15th Street
Sacramento, CA 95814

If you've been lucky enough to try out the mobile food truck, Drewski's Hot Rod Kitchen than you know how good their decadent sandwiches and addictive tots are. Well, you have a new place to get your fix.

They took over a huge place on 15th near the Torch Club that used to be a douchy lounge of some sort. Now it's a spacious, multi-use bar with all your Drewski's favorites and a few more. Full bar, pool tables, lounge area, skee ball (that was broken), and lots of high boy tables means you can always make yourselves at home no matter what kind of night you're looking for.

The Drewski's dog was by far the best food item. Spiced, wrapped in crisp bacon and delicious. The Chicken & waffles was a dissapointment with Eggo waffles and kind of dry chicken. Actually, avoid all the chicken, it's not what they do best. The Totchos (nachos & tater tots), was very good in concept but the tots were a little undercooked so just sort of fell apart in the basket. If they were just cooked a little more crispy, it would be fabulous!

The well drinks are served in plastic glasses which was sort of weird at first, but you get over that quickly. Also, only one of the five doors that face the streeet allow you inside. (head to the far right!). It's frustrating to get in, but once you are you can watch everyone else try every door which is sort of entertaining!

Dad's Kitchen

2968 Freeport Blvd
Sacramento, CA 95818
(916) 447-3237

Wow, we haven't been here since May 2010! Almost two years later and the main changes are that they added a huge outdoor tent over their patio so you can hang out in less friendly weather and have much more light. Downside is that when it is lovely outside, you can't really see it.

So this Thurdsay, we sat inside! To start the fried garbanzo beans are freakishly tasty. They have a lovely spice about them that makes you want more beer. Onion rings are huge and delicious as always and all their sandwiches were good. Add some sassy and helpful servers and this place is a win. They also have their own label house wine. Damn fancy.

Kilt Pub

4235 Arden Way
Sacramento, CA 95864
(916) 487-4979

This place is tucked away in a strip mall in the middle of the Arden Arcade neighborhood which makes is sort of hard to get to if you don't live close by. Is it worth it? I think so! It has a very lovely pub feel with kids running around, older folks having a pint and young upstarts finding their way past Guinness to al the other goodnes in the beer world.

The biggest downside is that the parking sucks and it's usually very busy. Come earlier in the week, earlier in the day or after the dinner rush.

The food was good, with sandwich options, a steak pie special and they even let me order the kid's fish and chips which was a perfect girl sized portion.

Bottom line, if you live near here, why are you ready this blog - go now! And if you don't live near here, it's worth a trek out to check out some of their unique beers.
