Boxing Donkey & Birth of Naked Bob

300 Lincoln Street
Roseville, CA 95678

Naked Bob marks the last of the April birthdays and he choose Boxing Donkey since his kilt fits in perfectly and he can walk there. This is solid place to bring a group. The patrons are sometimes douchy, but just bring your own friends and you'll be fine.

The food is better than average pub fair and you can't go wrong with beer and cocktails. Unless they put ice in their Magner's Cider. Icky.

We had another time lapse set up for Bob's birthday. Take a look.

There were many jack and cokes purchased for the birthday Bob and lots of recycled birthday cards. A lovely, social, birthday Thursday. Happy birthday Bob!

Old Europe & Birth of Nairby

825 Sutter Street
Folsom, CA 95630

Tis' the season for birthdays. We have a lot of April babies. This week, Nairby picked Old Europe in Folsom. It's a family place with German roots. Which it good since Nairby is extra German.

On the menu tonight was all sort of schnitzel. Your basic version, a rolled version with savory sauce, one smothered in mushrooms and more. Also bratwurst. And spatzel. And sauerkraut. And red cabbage. Oh man, they have so much good food!

Nairb was smart and went with basic schnitzel with lemon. It was a smart choice. I went for the bratwurst sampler which was so good! Six different sausages, all with different flavors. Oh, and everything is extra large portions so come hungry.

The staff weren't super friendly, but then brought out shots of kirschwasser on the house, so all was forgiven.

This is the best place around Sacramento for German food, hands down. Birthday Nairb's of German descent agree.

Yianni's Bar & Grill - Birth of Jarla

6628 Fair Oaks Blvd
Carmichael, CA 95608

Jarla's birthday! So she picked a place close to her with some tasty Mediterranean food.

So let's be honest. This place is right on Fair Oaks Blvd in a pretty sketchy looking white building just barely off set from the road. The front room is only used for banquets so it sort of looks empty when you pull up. You go through a side door into a dark bar and a little dining area just past it.

We hung out at the bar (full bar by the way), and the place had locals and regulars and the food looked great! The extra tacky horse clock was just a little peak of the kitsch.

We sat down for dinner and the menu is heavy on appetizers but with all the specials, the dinner menu it pretty thick too. Our waitress was awesome. Sassy, friendly and helpful.

We could have just eaten apps. Dolmas, spanakopita, salad, feta, all sorts of stuff. The main meal was meat heavy and great. Lamb shank, meatballs, chicken kabobs, all was delicious.

So, bring your friends and make your own fun over some great food. Also, we hear that on Friday nights they set up a grill out front, serve samples and it turns into a big Greek party! Trust us. Try it out.

Hot Italian

1627 16th Street
Sacramento, CA 95814

Last time we were here it was for Robot GoBen's birthday in February 2011. We reserved the giant round table and had as much pizza as we could handle.

This time we got there a little early, and after talking to the rad bartender he just offered to arrange the round table for our party just because it wasn't rented all ready. Quite awesome!

The varieties of pizza really cater to any taste. We ended up sharing about 8 pizzas, salad and we drank all sorts of Peroni, prosecco, and some italian lemon cocktails.

This is just a great place to come for just drinks or for full dinner. And they have the best gelato in Sacramento. Yes, I said it. And I mean it.
