Sizzle Mongolian BBQ

1230 Sunset Blvd
Rocklin, CA 95677
(916) 663-5672

What to say...what to say...  Mongolian BBQ is a very unique thing to eat since you build it yourself and then they stir fry up your creation. All Mongolian is good, but some are better and this is one of the better ones. Better is usually because of more variety and extra fun toppings. Sizzle Mongolian has both. If you are in the area, check it out.

Hamburger Patties

1630 J Street
Sacramento, CA 95814
(916) 441-4240

Why did it take us so long to get back here? The wait staff are sassy fun and the food is solid. All the burgers and sandwiches were good, the fries were great and our server was kind enough to give us a dessert to share. It's sometimes tough to get in here with a large group but we did just fine with our 12+ people since the big table in the back was open.

We need to add this one back onto the once-yearly list. It's getting crowded on there.

Food Truck Round Up - Roseville

Downtown Roseville
Second Thursday of the Month

Yay for Roseville embracing some food trucks to help spice up downtown Roseville! It was a great showing of at least a few thousand people milling around with their families, dogs, friends and enjoying a great array of mobile food.

A lot of the Drunks hit up Chando's for some tacos. Some very good sandwiches and mac n' cheese at Coast to Coast. And dessert at the Volks Waffle. They had seating, lots of trash and recycling and live music.

We brought our own traveling booze and hit some bars afterwards. All and all a great idea for Roseville and a damn fine time.

Blackbird Kitchen & Bar

1015 9th Street
Sacramento, CA 95814
(916) 498-9224

Mardi, cousin of The Jenny, came all the way from Spain to visit us! Yes, that is the truth I am believing. Or Mardi from Space - a common mistake. She response to both.

Blackbird is a new seafood place in downtown with a super creative chef. She pulls things together that I wouldn't expect and they work very well. The Arctic char app is a wonderful little buttery fish with a chive flower, tiny potato chip on a vichysoisse. Amazing to my mouth hole.

Anyone who had the seafood chowder said it was the best they have ever had. The food is a little pricey, but the quality is great. Don't take your football playing 6'3" nephew there for a meal. Come here to savor every bite.

The cocktails are top shelf as well so make sure to visit the bar as well. Their front mural is gorgeous and on their ally wall outside there are even more.

If you are not sure, try out their happy hour for some $1 oysters drink specials.
