El Azteca Roseville

4006 Foothills Blvd
Roseville, CA 95747
(916)772-6682

Bump is OOOOOOOLLLLDDDDDD! On his actual birthday we took over El Azteca in Roseville for some damn fine Mexican food, huge margaritas and a giant tower of gifts for the birthday Bump. The theme this years seemed to be socks, socks, oh and socks. His feet will be fresh and warm all winter long.

For the price and easy, this place is awesome. They recently expanded a bit so there is even more room. The walk up and order system keeps the prices low and the convenience high. With over a dozen drunks strolling in, this is perfect for us.

Scottish Potato Night

Undisclosed Roseville Location

There is a really amazing little shop in Edinburgh Scotland called the Baked Potato Shop with the self professed "Hottest Tattie in Town". A few of us drunks loved going there and this week The Jenny & Naked Bob were kind enough to host a tater night!

Step 1: rub giant potatoes in butter and sprinkle with a lot of salt.
Step 2: bake them for a long time
Step 3: top with everything under the sun.
Step 4: eat

Some of the topping options include: sour cream, cheese, pepper, salt, butter, raw mushrooms, bacon, chives, tomatoes, hummus, baked beans, onions, avocado and my favorite - mushrooms mixed with sour cream.

For drinks there was lots of beer & cider and the very Scottish Irn-Bru and vodka. It's sort of like a bubblegum, fluoride, cotton candy flavored soda. Nothing else quite like it.

Such a great theme for a house party. Just add bagpipe music and enjoy!

Magpie Cafe

1409 R Street #102
Sacramento, CA 95811
(916) 452-7594

Your blogger had a birthday and she picked Magpie. They have recently moved their baking operation offsite to the Yellowbill Cafe that they opened. Which let them take out their salad cold case and make more room for tables. Which is good because we showed up with 17 people! It was still a bit of a juggle to get table space, but they are just so nice and helpful that it all worked out.

Three orders of the pork belly appetizers with persimmon and frisee showed up as a gift from the kitchen. Damn it was tasty and so very nice of them. Seriously they treat us so well. Another big hit that night was the pot roast which is enough for two! I had the mixed veg plate which always seems pricey, but I never regret getting it. A large amount of fun, delicious and unusual vegetables are roasted and perfect.

They have a nice wine and beer selection to go with their amazing food and the bread pudding is especially good for dessert. A wonderful night of drunks, drinks and delicious food. I love this place.

Alonzo's Pizza Depot

7054 Sunrise Blvd
Citrus Heights, CA 95610

Tucked away in a very plain strip mall in Citrus Heights, Alonzo's is a hidden gem. It looks like it has been there for decades and maybe it has. Run by a husband and wife, the place is small but has some damn tasty deep dish pizza. They serve wine in a carafe (a lots option these days), and have a few beers on tap.

Brian picked this place to celebrate his birth. Sticking to tradition we all by him toys, usually age and sex inappropriate, that are then donated to Toys for Tots for the holidays. He's such a thoughtful guy.

We rearranged the tables in the middle and had over a dozen people. For a measly $10 a person we were stuffed on pizza, wings and salad. Throw in a few more bucks for drinks and it is such a great value! If you are in the area and have a giant hunger, try it out.
