Samuri Sushi

12251 Folsom Boulevard
Rancho Cordova, CA 95742
(916) 353-1112

An oldie but a goody. Yes, it's in Rancho Cordova. Yes, it's renovated  Denny's (or something like it). Yes, it has neon on the outside. But it also has pretty darn good sushi for a pretty darn good price! The Jimmy's Special is a pile of raw fish with a yummy sesame, soy, vinegar sauce and one of our favorites.

It's also great for our large group because they always have space for us! Bottom line, if you are out that way, check it out. We have quite a few members that live out that way or up the hill so it's always nice to choose something a little closer to them.

Banzi!

Bows & Arrows, Fat Face

1815 19th Street
Sacramento, CA
(916) 822-5668

The Jenny is so smart. She picked Bows & Arrows for her birthday and we were happy to comply! This place is a little gem in Sacramento. Vintage shop in the front, Fat Face cafe with really great food in the back. All the tables and chairs a little vignettes surrounded by gorgeous plant and style.

The food is very inventive. Carrot chili dog for the veggies in the group with a roasted carrot instead of a dog. Grilled cheese that is to die for. Popcorn with cumin & brewers yeast and a good old fashion tri tip.

Oh, and why Fat Face is famous - the popsicles!! Great flavors like lime avocado, Thai iced tea, and fudge espresso. Worth every penny.

The $4 happy hour sangria (3-7pm) is cheap, yummy & strong. The rest of the drinks are unique wines & great beers on tap. And they also have $2 cheap beers. Something for everyone!

The only annoying thing was being asked to pay a cover for the band inside even though we were eating dinner on the porch. The owner was apologetic about it and it turned out okay.

This is just a great place to go whenever you have a chance!

Magpie Cafe, Yet Again!!

1409 R Street #102
Sacramento, CA 95811
(916) 452-7594

It's official. We are groupies. We try to come here a couple times a year as the Drunks and every time it's great. Fabulous staff (shout out to Jen) and the owner Ed treats us so well, it's ridiculous.

Fresh, local food at a quality that rivals all the higher end restaurant in Sacramento. It's getting hard to get a table here, but get a glass of wine and be patient. It's so worth it.

We heard that we even made it on to the calendar. After not being able to find it we made out own. Then the staff made one for us to make it official.

Some of the highlights: pork belly appetizer, the steak, the spring risotto, and the ice cream sandwich. Damn good.

Flaming Grill

2319 El Camino Avenue
Sacramento, CA 95821

One of our sometimes drunks Ben, has been trying to get us here for a very long time! They have burgers with options like elk, buffalo, ostrich, wild boar and such. And their beer menu could rival anything in midtown.

It's out on El Camino in building, or "building" that looks sort of like a gas station that has been added on to with canvas sides, concrete walls and a lot of red paint. It's super janky but don't let that stop you.

They owner is very personable, knowledgable and willing to talk you through the variety of menu items. The meats we ordered ranged from python, ostrich, elk, antelope, wild boar and sirloin. All the burgers were well dressed, cooked medium and on a freshly made bun. As burgers go, this was damn good.

They have other non burger options but really, if you come out here, stick with what they rock. Burgers and beer.
