Tonight we dined al fresco at the lovely home of our favorite Joneses. We ordered savory pot pies from local Hangtown institution Z Pie and enjoyed the lovely early spring weather. It was an evening of babies, good eats & puppies chasing laser dots. A good time was had by all.
This week marked the first of three weeks without the collective known as "the Bobs" who went off globe-trotting to Spaindinavia (or Spaindanavia, depending on where you are from). The rest of us stalwart Drunks decided to take advantage of our smaller numbers and partake of the deliciousness to be had at The Chef's Table in Rocklin. This is a fairly intimate, yet casual restaurant that serves a variety of dishes spanning the range of gourmet to comfort food, all with a local ingredients and unique, flavorful twists. Due to it's small size reservations are a must (available through OpenTable). Our party of 6 was able to get in at 8:00pm.
It was a birthday-less Thursday but the Fat Rabbit always draws a crowd. It's one of the easiest places to go since you order at the bar and you just pay for everything yourself. They have Strongbow on tap and an Icelandic Einstock White Ale that is just wonderful. Fish & chips are always a favorite along with Shepard's pie, pasties and their schnitzel which seems like a hold over from when this spot was Old Europe and served the best schnitzel in town. Its comfy nooks and crannies make it a great drop-in type evening with other drunks.
