The Shack

5201 Folsom Blvd,
Sacramento
(916) 457-5997

The Shack (aka the Sub Shack), started serving dinner all the time! The menu looked fab, we love Gary, so we had to head out there.

The crappy thing is that RobotGoBen was working, Scribby was icky sicky, NakedBob, TheJenny, Mr Chemistry, and Shooter were all somewhere else doing something else, Sluggy was still doing Thursday classes. Crabby brought baby Lexie, so it was a small, but fun crowd that got to enjoy the evening at The Shack.

Since I was the sicky one, I have nothing to report other than Jarla said the mac & cheese was to die for! All I can say is that I can't believe that it WASN'T fabulous, so I declare - Fabulous!

Anatolian Table Restaurant

6815 Lonetree Blvd # 105
Rocklin, CA 95765
(916) 772-3020

Oh man do we love this place! I think the single biggest reason is that when we stroll in with 10 people they pull the tables together in a square. That doesn't sound like much, but when you eat at a long table every week and only talk to your half of the table, gathering around one large table is super cool! You can have a convo with the whole damn group!

The food, as always is super tasty. Kebabs of meat, yummy rice, thing on the menu we don't recognize - how much better can it get!

The staff are very nice, and when the waitress completely overlooked Mr. Chem, she became his best friend for the evening. Only beer & wine, but that's not a deterrent.

We are starting to get freaky excited about Sea Ranch --- History Lesson Coming -- So, we all put in $2 each per week into the travel fund. With that money, we go to Sea Ranch, rent a beach house for 12 people for 3 nights and all we pitch for is the food and booze! We are so smart... SMRT!

Best part of the night was talking about any near death experiences that we may have had...there were tons! Great table topics for your next gathering.

Journal Tidbits:
"I'm already wearing my speedo so I'm ready to go." - Mr. Chem
"Speaking of jugs..." - Caddie
"It feels like a really small penis." - Scribby

de Vere's Irish Pub

1521 L St.
Sacramento, CA 95833
(916) 231-9947

We were down some Drunks as some of the boys (RobotGoBen, Shooter, and Cap'n Crabby) were in Vegas, and Scribby was working (WTF?). We found the place, luckily as it didn't have a sign outside, and stepped into the loudness. First impressions: this place is way crowded, noisy, and most of them are wearing suits (it made Frankenstein a little scaredy). So Mr.Chemistry, Jarla, Frankenstein (maybe we should call him Dr.Manhattan...), and Nariby grabbed the table by the door. NakedBob and I hovered by a tall table across from the others. Eventually a table around the corner cleared and we swooped in for the kill. All seated together we could finally hold a conversation and eat some food like the civilized drunks we are!

Once seated an assortment of observations were made. We voted 4 in favor, 1 against, and 1 neutral, that cursive handwriting was bullshit and no longer relevant. My gin and tonic arrived with so many limes it resembled a green shrimp cocktail. The kind that wouldn't kill our dear Scribby. We also thought it might be fun in the future to draw topics of conversation out of a hat. Big themes like "Why are we here?" and "How do we know we're not alcoholics?" Or do like a debate team and assign viewpoints for people to argue. Maybe someday we'll be organized enough to actually do it.

Second and third impressions: The staff is super nice. Our first waitress was cute and brought all of us drinks, even though NakedBob and I were technically not in her section. One bartender brought Jarla a sidecar of cider because he noticed hers wasn't full enough. And our second waitress was also very sweet. She brought me a side of Irish Bacon because my sandwich arrived lacking it. Dude. And they played "Young Ned of the Hill" by the Pogues. Solid.

Quotes of the evening:

"Its a slippery pig."
-NakedBob

"Go ahead and show them my hand prints on your ass."
-Mr.Chemistry to NakedBob

Basic Urban Kitchen & Bar

112 Pacific St
Roseville, CA 95678
(916) 474-5514
www.barbasic.net

We showed up a little early and one whole side of this place was closed up...thought it was shut down for a moment, but then found the other 3 people who were there. One was a coworker of NakedBob's that we met a the Boxing Donkey excursion, one was his friend and the other guy Shooter ended up knowing. It's a really small world people.

We made ourselves comfy and ordered drinks from Billy the bartender. He is kind of showy, but grows on you. From what we could tell there were only two people working the place. Billy & guy cooking up the pizza. Guess the scaled down their staff drastically.

It started to fill up fast with a whole group from TheJenny's work celebrating a birthday, NakedBob's coworker friends, and our normal lot. It was loud, casual and we moved tables wherever we pleased!

You can't go wrong with the pizza here. It's very thin, very large and have great toppings to chose from. We didn't exactly get what we ordered, but they also gave us a pizza so really, who is going to complain. Some of our favorite toppings - bacon, mashed potatoes, mushrooms, green onions and tomatoes. Also their salad fed all 8 of us. Yup. One salad.

Girls went in on a bottle of wine, boys had beers and stiffer drinks. All and all, it was a fun night with lots of moving around, carousing with the other folks and lots of drinking. We came up with a really great idea for an iphone app, but we keeping that hush-hush.

Weird story: the now defunct Nut Tree had kids games and one was call "The Doggie Pounder", where you whack on it and try to bounce the balls into the dogs mouth. Seriously. The other, "The Smokin' Token." Who approved these?

Journal Tidbits:
"I've got Chip's nuts in a bag - they are extra small." - Jarla
"I didn't know a tongue could do that!" - Foster
"Are these from the strip club?" - Jarla holding up three dollar bills before pulling them apart. They were sticky...icky.

Now I need to find someone who was sober enough to take pictures...

The Embers

Girls were in Monterey. Three boys went to the Embers... They won't tell us any stories and there are no pictures. That's how a gentleman's club should be.

Carmelita's

4071 Howard St
Fair Oaks, CA 95628
(916) 961-3327

In honor of our favorite robot, RobotGoBen, we ended up at Carmelita's to celebrate his birthday. Everyone under the sun with a party of 10 or more was there that night. Holy crap it was crowded, even with reservations.

Finally got seated at a long table back by the bar area. I picked up a Cadillac Margarita for the birthday boy at the bar, and I have to say, they were kinda average. And for $9 each, I wasn't impressed. They was quite a bit of tequila in them, just kind of bland.

The salsa here is great, and I personally made my way through at least four bowls. A lot of folks ended up with green enchiladas, and they were fantabulous! Everyone else seemed happy with their food.

Sluggy, even though she wasn't there, sent along a gorgeous set of cupcakes. They looked like Cookie Monster with a cookie in his mouth...all slathered in blue coconut icing. They were awesome!

Caddie showed up again since she was in town before her trip to LA. She asked Bumpy if he was planning on making banana daiquiris at Sea Ranch... what? So then the story comes out that Shim drink his banana daiquiri way through Florida. Let the girly jokes begin! There was lots of texting between Crabby & Shim, with the best one being, "What kind of umbrella do you take with your tampon." - Crabby

Then, when trying to scribe that incident, Bump asked how to spell tampon, but wanted to spell it tampoon. Tampoons were then explained to be giant absorbent harpoons on catamarans.

Journal Tidbits:
"Bob's not going to redeem anybody." - TheJenny
"Blue coconut doesn't taste like coconut anymore." - Scribby

Uncle Vito's

1501 16th St
Sacramento, CA 95814
(916) 444-3699

Who wants some good cheap pizza and booze? Yup, we do!!! The pizza is by the slice, thin, crispy and loaded with deliciousness. The beers on tap are pretty good, but I have to say, their full bar is a bit thin. I think an average bar of a Thursday Drunk is better stocked. No Tanquery? Really?

Uncle Vito's is more of a bar with pizza by the slice, which is why it's so good. We climbed up on some bar stools and then saw the Oscar Meyer Weinermobile drive by. Awesome!

Everyone started showing up and it was three tables of drinks, pizza and drunks. Outside it was pouring, which meant we needed to keep eating and drinking.

Apparently there was some sort of unknown call for stripy shirts. Two drunks, and three others all in striped shirts/sweaters. Crazy. And there was a woman who, in flat shoes, towered over Frankenstein... and he's not short.

There was lots of talk about the bacon log that has swept the internet...we want it. As long as we have someone to call 911 when we start having heart attacks.

Journal Tidbits:
"You are the James Dean of nerds..." RobotGoBen
"I love Jesus, but I drink a little" - Gladys (old lady off the Ellen Show)
