When Sluggy made reservations, after a few misunderstandings they finally put the reservation under Larla. Sure, why not.

So we are celebrating the birthday of Jarla, a wondrous occasion as she was rumored to have been born in a rickety barn. Ask Bumpy for the folk song detailing the event.

And since I suck, I missed her birthday. Bad blog writer. I have no useful insight. Here is what was in the journal. Floggings for me.

"Welcome to the Rapture" party including angel food cake, drinks that light on fire, deviled eggs, Rosemary's Baby loaf and the rapture raptor.

The food was determined to be "YUM".

Jarla's cat Buckwheat now has a happy kidney while Jarla got this delicious coconut ice cream.

Golden Bear

Mainly due to the Rivercats season opener, attendance at The Golden Bear was down to a meager 4 persons. But Shooter, BumpyTruck, Jarla, and TheJenny know how to have a good time no matter what.

The GB has a smallish neighborhood feeling with plenty of hipsters sprinkled liberally throughout. They were out of the Juicy Lucy burger for the evening, so we went with the Red Caesar Turkey Sandwich and Sausage & 'Slaw Pizzetta.

Good mix of music, the food was quite tasty, the staff was attentive and friendly, and we all agreed that it would be a great bar to frequent if you lived nearby. After each taking a turn at trying to draw Gaddafi in the mini-journal, we called it an early night and snuck next door to Rick's Desert Diner to grab some slabs of cake to go.

Meaty goodness and the best damn fried chicken in town! If you haven't eaten here, you should be ashamed of yourself. Go let your grandma slap some sense into you.

With melt-in-your-mouth tri-tip and fall-off-the-bone ribs you know this place can do meat. Their seafood is mostly battered in corn meal and deep fried and there is a place for that as well. They really excel at the fried chicken (which takes a little longer to get), because it's not greasy at all and has a spicy, flavorful batter that is great even the next day.

You could make a meal just on their option of sides which includes hush puppies, red beans and rice, greens, mac n' cheese, spicy green beans and a whole lot more. Their are so many options you could eat here many times and not get the same thing twice.

There conversion to a full bar has added some depth to what they can do for you which is nice. And their beer & wine selection is adequate. The service is always friendly with a little bit of sass that makes it more interesting!

Uncle Vito's Slice of NY

We haven't been to Uncle Vito's in quite some time, but we were looking for a cheap and easy place after our time in Sea Ranch. It's a bar that sells pizza-by-the-slice and you can also order food from Pronto next door if you want something more diverse. Most folks stuck with beer and a cheap slice. The pizza is pretty damn good for the price. You can see the giant bowl of salad I got below as well. It's a good place to go if you want more booze than food and only have a bit of cash.

We had a great showing of sometimes drunks even with the torrential rain and crazy storm. We're so proud of our little rag tag group of drinkers!

Sea Ranch 2011

If you are an official member of the Thursday Drunks and you put in your $2 a week into the travel fund, you get to go to Sea Ranch for 5 days and 4 nights! We have a hearty regiment of drinking and eating with a side of relaxing, walking, rock band, movies, hula hooping, hot tubing and other shenanigans.

18 people, 2 houses, 2 kegs, 8 meals = awesome with a side of rad.

Since we started our vacation on St. Patrick's day we dined on a meal of homemade Cornish pasties and minted peas. Jar Baby watched from his house of mandarins.

Here was the meal line up. You'll need a nap after... 1) Cornish pasties & minted peas 2) Spicy Spam fried rice & steak fried rice for breakfast 3) Pulled pork sandwiches with salad 4) Pancakes, omelets & breakfast meats, oh my! 5) Kung pao chicken and broccoli beef 6) Sweet potato waffles and sausage 7) Two kinds of enchiladas and chile verde 8) Sweet and savory fresh-baked popovers 9) And a snack service that puts costco samplers to shame!

Lexie is our youngest member and since her 3rd birthday landed smack dab on a Thursday we wanted to do it up nice! Where better than the Pope table at Buca di Beppo. With a giant lazy susan, the Pope encased in a plastic box (judging you...) and huge family style portions. We filled up the table nicely with about 15 drunks.

The food here isn't going to win any awards, but it's tasty, filling and there's a whole lot of it! It's just reliable (and very kid friendly), fare. Just fill up on their house Chianti or their full bar options, bring your own fun and get to carb loading! They handle big groups with ease...even us.

Sacramento Beer Week at Pangaea Two Brews

The Second Annual Sacramento Beer Week was huge! There were hundreds of events happening all over town, from large to small. We took the opportunity to return to Pangaea Two Brews for Allagash night and tasted a few different varieties. We were a small fun group and did our share of damage on those kegs.
